Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain shared Android applications, components, libraries, and frameworks using Kotlin and Java.
- Develop stable, documented APIs and establish modular Android architecture, reusable patterns, lifecycle management, versioning, and migration strategies.
- Collaborate with project teams to translate common needs into reusable platform capabilities.
- Review technical designs and code, identify architectural risks, and promote consistent engineering practices.
- Plan and perform software unit verification and develop automated unit, integration, and UI tests.
- Investigate complex issues affecting multiple applications and deliver sustainable solutions.
- Contribute to secure software design, sensitive-data protection, application-permission handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain technical documentation and development evidence for a regulated medical environment.
- Collaborate with product owners, system architects, quality, regulatory, cybersecurity, and verification teams.
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and modern engineering practices.
Requirements
- High proficiency in Kotlin and strong experience with Java.
- Extensive experience building Android applications, shared software components, system-level architecture, and Gradle build systems.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted tools in software development workflows.
- Experience designing modular architectures, managing APIs, and using versioning and dependency tools in highly regulated or safety-critical sectors.
- Strong knowledge of the Android SDK, application lifecycles, memory management, clean architecture, and dependency injection.
- Experience with unit and integration test automation and pipeline integration using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
- Ability to travel 5% to 10% of the time, mainly within Europe.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, or IEC 81001-5-1 is beneficial.
- Experience with threat modeling, secure data handling, design controls, and regulatory submission documentation is beneficial.
