Responsibilities
- Design, build, and iterate on APIs and services for a standardized data access layer.
- Drive adoption of API-gated data sources so product teams can reuse data across consuming surfaces.
- Design standardized data ownership labeling and validation logic for incoming requests.
- Own the reliability, stability, monitoring, fault tolerance, and operational excellence of developed components.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technical design documents, code reviews, design reviews, roadmap discussions, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams adopting the shared data layer.
- Participate in the team-wide on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industry experience as a software engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong production coding experience in Python and/or Golang, with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience designing reliable, scalable applications and applying system design principles.
- Ability to own complex, multi-component features end-to-end and collaborate across teams.
- Understanding of service health, monitoring, fault tolerance, and incident response practices.
- Strong attention to code quality, testing, performance, maintainability, and practical technical trade-offs.
- Ability to write technical design documents and contribute to architecture and design reviews.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously and asynchronously with remote collaborators.
- Preferred: experience building data access layers, APIs, or platforms for other engineering teams.
- Preferred: experience treating an internal platform as a product, Big Data platform usage, and familiarity with ChatGPT, Cursor, and other GenAI productivity tools.
