Responsibilities
- Develop and ship Search and Question Answering systems across Siri, Safari, Spotlight, and other Apple products.
- Build machine learning systems and apply search expertise to improve relevance and answer accuracy.
- Develop tooling and frameworks to evaluate individual components and end-to-end system quality.
- Work hands-on with Retrieval Augmented Generation, including improving retrievers and generative large language models.
- Systematically identify opportunities for improvement and communicate plans, progress, results, and demos.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience shipping Search and Question Answering technologies and machine learning systems.
- Excellent programming skills in mainstream languages such as C++, Python, Scala, and Go.
- Strong analytical skills for improving search relevance and answer accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Preferred experience in Search Relevance and Ranking, Question Answering, Query Understanding, Personalization, Recommendation systems, or data-informed decision-making.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation, retrievers, and generative large language models.
- An MS or PhD in AI, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is preferred.
