Responsibilities
- Investigate reliability, performance, and data-quality issues across the Microsoft Advertising platform, APIs, services, and customer workflows.
- Design, build, and own AI-driven automation, services, scripts, and internal web tools to improve support efficiency.
- Write production-quality code, implement fixes, improve monitoring and alerting, and contribute to shared libraries and tooling.
- Drive root-cause analysis, post-incident action items, and engineering changes with multiple Engineering teams.
- Create and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests and participate in bug bashes and release readiness activities.
- Communicate investigation status and actionable guidance during live-site events.
- Analyze escalation trends, propose engineering solutions, and influence product roadmaps to reduce customer friction.
- Document troubleshooting knowledge, build self-service experiences for Tier 1/Tier 2 teams, and mentor others.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a listed technical field or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls.
- Solid coding ability in at least one general-purpose language, including C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience building automation or services integrating with APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on debugging experience with logs, metrics, and traces in live-site or production environments.
- Experience using AI-based coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT while validating correctness, security, and performance.
- Proficiency developing C# tools and automation, plus experience with customer-facing Tier 3 technical support or a software development organization.
- At least 3 years of technical experience with large-scale cloud or distributed systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of at least two relevant areas such as data mining, machine learning, statistics, business intelligence, information retrieval, databases, data warehousing, ETL, or measurement is preferred.
- A master's degree with 3+ years of experience or a bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is $102,100-$202,200 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range.
- Employees near a designated Microsoft office are expected to work from the office at least four days per week starting January 26, 2026, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
- The role may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position will remain open for at least five days and accepts applications until filled.
