Responsibilities
- Build, mature, design, tune, and operate Microsoft Purview DLP and Information Protection capabilities across Microsoft 365 and endpoints.
- Implement sensitivity labels, publishing policies, auto-labeling, Sensitive Information Types, retention, legal hold, eDiscovery, audit, and evidence-preservation workflows.
- Assess sensitive-data exposure and permissions across SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and endpoints, including oversharing and external sharing risks.
- Prepare Microsoft 365 data for Copilot and other enterprise AI tools by identifying exposure, access pathways, Shadow AI, and control gaps.
- Implement and operationalize CASB, SSPM, DSPM, SSE, SASE, and SaaS discovery capabilities where appropriate for data and AI security.
- Use PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft 365 reporting to automate policy validation, reporting, investigations, and recurring operational work.
- Own complex L3 troubleshooting for Purview, DLP, classification, labeling, endpoint DLP, eDiscovery, legal hold, and Microsoft 365 data-protection issues.
- Evaluate new Purview, Copilot security, and AI-governance capabilities through lab and proof-of-value testing.
- Create technical designs, SOPs, runbooks, and decision records; mentor IT team members and transfer data-security knowledge.
- Lead data-security and AI-governance projects from requirements and pilot through rollout, validation, documentation, and handover.
Requirements
- 9+ years of relevant experience across enterprise IT, Microsoft 365, endpoint/security, or related infrastructure disciplines.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft Purview experience in an enterprise Microsoft 365 environment.
- Hands-on DLP experience involving policy design, tuning, false positives, exceptions, and business impact.
- Strong Information Protection experience with sensitivity labels, publishing, auto-labeling, classification, and Sensitive Information Types.
- Hands-on experience with retention, legal hold, eDiscovery, audit, or related Purview data lifecycle and investigation capabilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview DSPM, AI data security, CASB/SSE/SASE, Shadow IT, or Shadow AI discovery and control concepts.
- Strong understanding of SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams data repositories, permissions, and sharing controls.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, including identity, groups, and access dependencies.
- Demonstrated ownership of production systems and ability to resolve complex technical problems independently.
- Ability to plan and execute technical changes and projects involving requirements, pilots, stakeholders, risk management, validation, and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining data-security controls to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Preferred qualifications include AI governance experience, ISO/IEC 42001 or NIST AI RMF familiarity, GDPR or ISO 27001 exposure, SaaS discovery, SSPM or SAM knowledge, and Microsoft security or Purview certifications.
