Responsibilities
- Own test strategy and independent verification for RF sensor software across design, release, regression, integration, system, and field validation.
- Develop maintainable functional tests and hardware-backed automated regression tests using supporting test tooling.
- Combine automated coverage with targeted manual validation based on risk and technical feasibility.
- Reproduce, isolate, and characterize issues on real sensor hardware and in test environments, documenting reproduction steps, logs, and environment details.
- Monitor and improve development, test, and hardware environments for stability and observability.
- Partner with RF Engineering and release stakeholders on system, acceptance, field, and release testing.
- Document test results and defects and contribute to software design and after-action reviews.
- Support newer engineers and interns through pairing, reviews, knowledge sharing, and onboarding.
- Use approved agentic AI tools to design tests, analyze results, and draft documentation while reviewing outputs for quality, security, and performance.
Requirements
- A degree or vocational qualification in electrical engineering, computer science, embedded systems, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience testing software that runs on or with hardware, including independent ownership of the test and quality approach.
- Experience with RF, embedded, sensor, or similarly hardware-integrated systems.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated tests or test tooling, ideally with Python pytest.
- Ability to independently support hardware-backed regression testing.
- Comfort working in Linux-based systems, including SSH and networking.
- Collaborative, quality-focused communication and working style.
- Experience with drones or hardware-in-the-loop and continuous-integration test setups is preferred.
- Interest in supporting the growth of other engineers is preferred.
