Responsibilities
- Partner with clients and internal architects to understand business priorities and translate them into practical, commercially viable, enterprise-scale AI solutions.
- Convert business cases, reinvention opportunities, and transformation roadmaps into production-ready solution architectures and delivery plans.
- Own and continuously evolve engineering standards for the Forward Deployed Engineer track, including architecture, testing, evaluation, observability, production readiness, and operations.
- Define AI-native engineering practices involving agent-assisted development, automated evaluation, reusable components, observability, and production operations.
- Create reference architectures, solution patterns, and decision frameworks using Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Avanade Agentic Platform, and Microsoft capabilities.
- Set hiring, assessment, capability-development, and career-pathway standards for the FDE track, including reskilling traditional delivery engineers.
- Personally deploy on complex, strategic, at-risk, or reference-critical engagements to deliver successful production outcomes.
- Contribute reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, engineering assets, and delivery lessons to the Avanade Next platform and delivery model.
- Partner with platform, product, delivery, quality, value, and trust leaders to ensure repeatable, measurable, governed, production-grade solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software or AI engineering with senior or lead accountability for production systems that were maintained after deployment.
- Deep, current, hands-on experience with agentic engineering, including orchestration, retrieval, tool use, evaluation, observability, and failure handling.
- Strong command of the Microsoft AI stack, with equivalent depth on another stack considered where the experience is transferable.
- Experience establishing and enforcing engineering standards for a team, including gaining adoption from initially dissenting stakeholders.
- Experience assessing and hiring engineers at volume and pace while maintaining a defensible hiring bar.
- Client-facing credibility and willingness to work as a deployed Forward Deployed Engineer rather than directing solely from a studio.
- Ability to build a capability that includes reskilling engineers transferring from traditional delivery roles.
