Responsibilities
- Supervise, prioritize, assign, and monitor the day-to-day work of Visual Database Engineers.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and integration of visual and radar database applications.
- Lead full-lifecycle development of 3-D models and terrain environments for simulation and training systems.
- Review designs, documentation, deliverables, and implementation artifacts for quality, accuracy, completeness, and engineering-standard compliance.
- Mentor and coach team members and provide management with input on performance, development needs, workload, and process improvements.
- Coordinate schedules, dependencies, resources, risks, priorities, and project status with engineering management and customers.
- Translate technical and customer requirements into database designs, work plans, assignments, schedules, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead software installation, operating-system support, integration, testing, troubleshooting, witnessing, and certification activities.
- Coordinate with TSSC Engineering, Test Engineers, Pilot Instructors, SMEs, internal stakeholders, and external customers to validate database accuracy, performance, usability, and reliability.
- Provide technical support for C-17 visual database systems and associated tools and escalate high-impact issues as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least six years of experience in visual database development, simulation systems, or a related technical field.
- The education-and-experience qualification specifies a minimum of eight years of related experience for an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical work, coordinating projects, mentoring engineers, or supervising technical employees.
- Working knowledge of engineering development lifecycles, technical documentation, integration, testing, and configuration-control practices.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, resolve technical challenges, and communicate status and risks to management and customers.
- Preferred experience designing and delivering visual databases for simulation, training, or mission-rehearsal applications and supporting C-17 or comparable military training systems.
- Preferred proficiency with terrain-generation tools, 3-D modeling techniques, visual database toolsets, and radar database development.
- Strong technical judgment, analytical ability, written and verbal communication skills, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to U.S. Government contract requirements and eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance.
