Responsibilities

  • Implement and improve low-level processor functions, peripheral controls, and communication interfaces.
  • Implement closed-loop control functions for physical processes.
  • Write development-test code for avionics, fluids, and propulsion devices.
  • Write reviewed and tested code for manufacturing and flight.
  • Collaborate with avionics hardware, propulsion, GNC, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience developing embedded microcontroller code for an extracurricular project, ideally in C, C++, Rust, or assembly.
  • Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale, and resolve concerns.
  • Preferred experience controlling physical devices such as motors, batteries, power supplies, DAQs, CNCs, 3D printers, RC cars, or radios.
  • Preferred experience collaborating with hardware and software engineers.
  • Preferred experience in a vehicle development environment such as cars, planes, rockets, satellites, drones, or boats.
  • Preferred experience with version control, test cases, and software best practices.
  • Must be willing and able to work on-site in Redondo Beach, California, for the internship duration.
  • May be required to work overtime.
