Base Salary
$110k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of encryption, tokenization, and key management solutions.
- Implement secure data protection capabilities and contribute directly to production-ready systems.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, observability, reliability, and auditable logging for encryption and tokenization services.
- Partner with compliance, security, data governance, application, product, and engineering teams.
- Propose scalable and resilient architectures for key management systems and data protection workflows.
- Apply modern cryptography trends and standards to technical decisions.
- Mentor engineers on secure coding, design quality, and operational practices.
- Improve performance, cost efficiency, and developer experience across the encryption and key management ecosystem.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of security or software engineering experience focused on encryption, tokenization, key management, or cryptography.
- At least 3 years contributing to system design, architecture, and security-focused solutions.
- Strong understanding of cryptographic encryption, tokenization, and key management systems.
- Experience designing secure, scalable data-at-rest encryption solutions using open-source cryptographic libraries and protocols such as FPE and AEAD.
- Strong software engineering experience building production-grade services, with Go preferred.
- Experience with Google Tink, PKCS#11, JCE, OpenSSL, and hardware security modules.
- Experience operating stateful systems such as PostgreSQL, including replication and reliability considerations.
- Experience applying SRE practices including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
- Experience building and operating systems in cloud environments, with AWS, GCP, or Azure preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience focused on security and cryptography.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, risk mitigation, and security-first skills.
