Base Salary
$144k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement query parsing, validation, transformation, optimization, plan generation, adaptive execution, code generation, and vectorized execution components.
- Architect query optimization and execution systems that scale across petabytes and support multi-model data.
- Develop data processing abstractions and execution engines for vector search, graph traversal, probabilistic joins, and AI-native workloads through SQL.
- Build compiler-accelerated storage access patterns and collaborate with platform and storage teams on indexing and caching strategies.
- Design tooling and frameworks that connect analytics, AI workloads, and programmable data pipelines.
- Mentor engineers, guide technical discussions, influence long-term system direction, and promote quality and rigor.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in systems-level or database-internals engineering.
- Proven expertise in SQL query engines, query optimizers, execution runtimes, or data compiler toolchains.
- Experience with multi-model data systems, including SQL, JSON, vector search, and graph traversal.
- Expertise in at least one systems programming language or LLVM-based code generation environment.
- Strong understanding of relational algebra, compiler construction, and data-intensive workloads.
- Familiarity with AI infrastructure or ML inference pipelines is preferred.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools and the ability to critically evaluate and verify AI-generated outputs.
- Ability to evaluate, adapt, propose, and implement AI-augmented workflows to improve individual and team productivity.
- A PhD degree or published research experience is highly advantageous.
