Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components.
- Define scalability requirements and optimize systems for hyper-scale, high-throughput workloads and large-scale data processing.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, consistency and availability strategies, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, monitoring, and alerting for system health and performance.
- Design correctness, availability, fault-injection, brownout, replication, and synchronization scenarios.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support rotations and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure automation and change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex tasks and projects, provide technical oversight, mentor junior team members, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering experience leading development and architecture of scalable distributed systems.
- Experience designing high-throughput, elastic, fault-tolerant, and in-service-upgradable systems.
- Ability to work with distributed state management, data retrieval, storage, processing, replication, synchronization, and reliability techniques.
- Experience with performance and load testing, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, fault injection, and operational troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, cloud compliance, and infrastructure automation.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, collaborate across teams, and mentor engineers.

- U.S. base salary range of $114,600 to $234,600 per annum; bonus, equity, and compensation deferral may also be available.
