Base Salary
$185k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of Tier-1 distributed services handling millions of requests per day with millisecond latency and strict SLAs.
- Design and re-architect stateful runtime services, orchestration systems, and platform components for AI-agent development.
- Make build-versus-buy, data, storage, latency, reliability, and foundational technology decisions.
- Lead design and code reviews, document technical trade-offs, and establish maintainable engineering standards.
- Mentor SDE-1s and SDE-2s and improve the team’s design judgment and technical output.
- Identify systemic risks, drive root-cause fixes, and maintain long-term correctness, scalability, latency, and operational health.
- Partner across teams and organizations to align technical contracts, roadmaps, and production services.
- Translate Applied Scientist research into production-ready services.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 6 years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- At least 6 years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
- Preferred: 6+ years covering the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
