
Lead ML Engineer - Lane & Route Network Mapping

Base Salary
$220k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead research, design, architecture, training, and validation of neural networks for vectorized mapping, multi-camera BEV transformers, and multimodal fusion.
- Architect and implement a production-grade lane and route network mapping stack integrated with perception, behavior, policy, and prediction modules.
- Drive major features from inception through deployment, including architecture design, code reviews, automated testing, mentorship, and technical resolution.
- Own data curation, auto-labeling, synthetic data, and active-learning pipelines for lane and route networks.
- Develop metrics and evaluation frameworks for mapping accuracy, temporal consistency, and scaling across diverse operational design domains.
- Translate autonomy goals into software and system requirements with cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate on deployment and validation of mapping features across the autonomous-vehicle fleet.
- Evaluate and adapt advanced techniques including online vectorized HD-map construction, end-to-end mapping models, and vision/fusion foundation models.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, or comparable knowledge or experience.
- At least 7 years of industry experience developing and deploying ML/DL models for mapping or computer vision at scale.
- Expertise in vectorized mapping, BEV scene representation, temporal modeling, cross-modal calibration and fusion, transformers or graph neural networks, lane topology, and computer vision foundations.
- Strong understanding of HD maps, lane and road network geometry, connectivity, and semantic attributes.
- Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, distributed training, synthetic data generation, large-scale datasets, and data curation.
- Strong Python and/or C++ programming skills with modular software design and Linux development experience.
- Leadership experience guiding technical roadmaps, mentoring engineers, and improving model performance and system reliability.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience includes 10+ years in ML/DL for autonomous driving or ADAS, self-supervised or semi-supervised learning, vision-language or foundation models, model quantization, pruning or distillation, and top-tier research publications or inventions.
