Responsibilities

  • Oversee development, testing, deployment, availability, performance, and compliance of customer-facing e-commerce web applications.
  • Own the architecture and engineering strategy for vacation search, cruise reservations, reservation amendments, pre-cruise purchases, and content management systems.
  • Lead the migration of on-premises applications to AWS while maintaining data integrity and minimizing downtime.
  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Implement blue-green deployment strategies to support low-risk releases and rapid rollbacks.
  • Set software architecture, engineering, testing, automation, and software development lifecycle standards.
  • Investigate technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and optimize web application navigability, performance, SEO potential, and usability.
  • Collaborate with product, IT, enterprise architecture, marketing, security, data, operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, lead cross-functional teams, and manage vendor relationships and distributed engineering resources.
  • Drive innovation, operational excellence, predictable delivery, and continuous improvement across the product engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
  • At least 8 years of experience collaborating across an enterprise IT organization.
  • At least 10 years delivering technology products.
  • At least 5 years architecting end-to-end engineering solutions.
  • At least 8 years delivering large-scale consumer-facing systems.
  • At least 3 years of AWS architecture experience, including EKS and blue-green deployment.
  • 5–8 years of experience with JavaScript, React, Java, Spring Boot, and GraphQL.
  • Strong technical leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Willingness to travel less than 25%, with shipboard travel likely.
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Seattle area.
