Base Salary

$114k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, maintain, configure, patch, and troubleshoot Linux-based lab and development systems.
  • Load, customize, and harden Linux workstations and servers to meet security and performance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair server, workstation, and other lab hardware, coordinating component repair or replacement.
  • Respond to high-priority incidents, identify root causes across operating system, network, and hardware layers, and restore critical lab services.
  • Support software developers and engineering teams with build environments, development workflows, and OS-related issues.
  • Manage Linux packages, build custom RPMs, handle kernel and driver interactions, and perform performance tuning.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and changes and maintain accurate lab infrastructure inventories.
  • Support virtualization, backup and restore, vulnerability scanning, security patching, patch repositories, antivirus tools, and build/deployment environments as applicable.

Requirements

  • Principal level requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 5 years of relevant Object Oriented Language experience, 3 years with a master’s degree, 0 years with a PhD, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Senior Principal level requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 8 years of relevant Object Oriented Language experience, 6 years with a master’s degree, 3 years with a PhD, or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong Linux system administration experience with Red Hat or similar enterprise distributions.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux operating systems, software, servers, lab hardware, user accounts, groups, and file system permissions.
  • Experience troubleshooting operating systems, networks, and hardware across servers and workstations.
  • Experience with Linux package management, custom RPMs, kernel and driver interactions, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with shell scripting for system configuration, automation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and technical leads on schedule-driven programs.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance; current clearance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with VMware, backup and restore solutions, vulnerability scanning, security compliance, patch repositories, antivirus tools, and build/deployment environments is preferred.

Benefits

  • Primary level base salary range is $114,000.00-$171,000.00 annually; secondary level base salary range is $142,200.00-$213,400.00 annually.
