Responsibilities
- Develop predictive systems that model biological processes, farm operations, pasture growth, land properties, and animal state or activity.
- Conduct technical and agricultural literature reviews and apply current machine learning and pasture science research.
- Own model architecture, dataset construction, training, optimization, and other phases of machine learning model development.
- Deploy and monitor machine learning systems in production and support their behavior in the field.
- Work autonomously across infrastructure, databases, simulation, and machine learning development.
- Identify innovative opportunities across farm data and collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams.
Requirements
- Deep academic and/or professional experience applying machine learning to real-world problems, potentially including a research-oriented postgraduate degree in mathematics or computer science.
- Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and monitoring machine learning systems in production.
- Strong causal reasoning and ability to design models that reflect real-world dynamics.
- Strong data intuition and ability to work with noisy, high-volume, high-dimensional datasets.
- Fluency in Python and experience contributing to complex, collaborative codebases.
- Proficiency with AI companion tools and engineering productivity tooling such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude-code.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, curiosity, autonomy, and product-minded strategic thinking.
- Experience with advanced ML architectures such as Transformers or SSM, agent-based systems, or recommendation systems is a plus but not required.
