Base Salary
$228k - $338k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture for Trident and related Kubernetes data services.
- Design and ship production software in Go.
- Guide engineers through complex, cross-team technical work.
- Work directly with customers on escalations, requirements, and validation.
- Improve testing, debugging, and performance.
- Run proofs of concept and research on the future of Kubernetes storage.
- Represent NetApp upstream and in the open-source community.
- Partner with product management on the roadmap and participate in design reviews.
Requirements
- 10+ years building software or equivalent demonstrated impact.
- Strong production Go experience.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, APIs, controllers, operators, and storage consumption.
- Production experience with persistent storage in Kubernetes, CSI, volume lifecycle, or comparable systems.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, data structures, and systems design.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to explain designs clearly to engineers, product managers, and customers.
- Comfort working in an Agile team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study, such as an engineering discipline.
- Preferred: a technical master’s degree, with less additional experience potentially required.
- Preferred: experience building or maintaining a CSI driver or Kubernetes storage controller in production.
- Preferred: Kubernetes, CSI, or CNCF open-source contributions.
- Preferred: Python for tooling, testing, and automation.
- Preferred: Kubernetes data protection experience, including snapshots, clones, backup, or disaster recovery.
- Preferred: ONTAP or other enterprise and cloud-native storage platform experience.
- Preferred: track record leading technical work across teams.
