Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable AWS-based IoT services and cloud-native connectivity applications.
- Build Python backend services, REST APIs, integration components, and distributed application capabilities.
- Support device onboarding, provisioning, registration, telemetry ingestion, alarm processing, software distribution, file transfer, and remote service workflows.
- Integrate medical devices and device software with cloud connectivity services using secure communication and certificate-based authentication.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code and maintain cloud resources across development, validation, and production environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and operate production systems, including incident response, root-cause analysis, logging, alerting, and observability.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technology roadmaps, design reviews, release planning, and change management.
- Support secure software development, vulnerability remediation, encryption, identity management, validation, audit, and GxP compliance activities.
- Collaborate with global teams across backend, cloud, device software, UI, quality, regulatory, cybersecurity, product, and operations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, electronics engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5 to 7+ years of professional software engineering, cloud engineering, connectivity platform, or related technology experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing solutions on AWS.
- Strong experience building backend applications, services, and APIs using Python.
- Experience with cloud-native applications, distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and integration architectures.
- Experience with AWS IoT Core, MQTT, HTTPS, TLS, certificate management, and secure communication protocols.
- Experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience operating production systems, supporting CI/CD and DevOps practices, and coordinating releases and deployments.
- Experience troubleshooting cloud, application, networking, authentication, and device communication layers.
- Experience in medical devices, MedTech, healthcare, software as a medical device, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
- Experience with GxP environments, connected products or IoT platforms, and connected-device workflows such as remote monitoring, software distribution, file transfer, or alarm processing.
- Experience working with globally distributed product development or engineering teams.
- Understanding of regulated software development, quality, validation, documentation, change control, and operational compliance expectations.
- Basic understanding of UI technologies such as Node.js and React.js.
- Ability to contribute to architecture discussions, independently own deliverables, troubleshoot production issues, and balance delivery, quality, security, compliance, and reliability.
