Responsibilities

  • Conduct research advancing quantum error-correction theory, techniques, and implementation in experimental quantum computing devices.
  • Develop and optimize QEC protocols for experimental gate-based quantum computers, primarily using neutral-atom platforms.
  • Use mathematical models and numerical simulations to analyze QEC protocol behavior and performance.
  • Develop and implement custom QEC decoders.
  • Identify and mitigate noise processes in quantum systems.
  • Collaborate with experimental physicists and software engineers to connect theoretical concepts with practical implementations.
  • Communicate and interpret current QEC research across theory and experiment.
  • Publish research findings and present them at scientific conferences.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in a collaborative research environment.

Requirements

  • PhD in theoretical physics, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field in quantum information science.
  • Two or more years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent industry experience in QEC is highly preferred.
  • Experience tailoring error-correcting codes to quantum computing devices and connecting theory with experiment.
  • Strong scientific publication record.
  • Proficiency in scientific computing.
  • Professional-level verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional, matrixed environments.
  • Ability to learn complex topics quickly and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Resourceful problem-solving skills and demonstrated expertise in productization efforts.
  • Experience with machine-learning-based decoder algorithms is desirable.
  • Experience collaborating with hardware engineers on decoder technology is desirable.
  • Familiarity with neutral-atom hardware, gatesets, and noise models is desirable.
