Responsibilities
- Research and advance quantum error-correction theory, techniques, and implementation in experimental quantum computing devices.
- Develop and optimize QEC protocols for gate-based quantum computers, primarily using neutral atom platforms.
- Use mathematical models and numerical simulations to analyze QEC protocol behavior and performance.
- Develop and implement custom QEC decoders.
- Identify and mitigate noise processes in quantum systems.
- Collaborate with experimental physicists and software engineers to translate theory into practical implementations.
- Communicate research developments, publish findings in scientific journals, and present at conferences.
- Provide guidance and support to team members in a collaborative research environment.
Requirements
- PhD in theoretical physics, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related quantum information science field.
- At least 2 years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent industry experience in QEC is highly preferred.
- Experience tailoring error-correcting codes for quantum computing devices and connecting theory with experiment.
- Strong scientific publication record and proficiency in scientific computing.
- Professional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to work across organizational levels.
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional, matrixed, and fast-paced environments.
- Resourcefulness, problem-solving ability, ability to learn complex topics quickly, and demonstrated expertise in productization efforts.
- Experience with machine-learning-based decoder algorithms, hardware collaboration, and neutral atom hardware, gatesets, or noise models is desirable.
