Responsibilities
- Generate embedded software for variable-speed motor control drives.
- Use software revision control tools such as Git.
- Maintain software requirements and detailed design documentation.
- Assist with the agency approval process.
- Develop and document engineering and manufacturing test procedures for variable-frequency drives.
- Own and complete software DFMEA for variable-speed motor control drives.
- Validate software with compressors under normal and abnormal test conditions and generate reports.
- Collaborate with local and global software and hardware teams to complete assigned tasks.
- Provide technical support to internal Copeland teams and external customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field.
- At least 5 years of software development experience, including at least 1 year using embedded C in motor-control systems.
- At least 1 year of experience with the software development cycle from requirements through code generation, verification, and documentation.
- At least 1 year of experience using Git for software revision control.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team-based new product development environment.
- Preferred: master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field.
- Preferred: relevant software development experience in motor control, especially permanent-magnet and sensorless control.
- Preferred: extensive knowledge of power electronics topologies and their control.
- Preferred: experience with MATLAB/Simulink code generation, hardware-in-the-loop simulation, software DFMEA, or agency testing such as UL.
- Preferred: understanding of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, automotive/commercial-vehicle/off-road electronics, technical project management, and problem solving.
