Responsibilities
- Design and implement sophisticated data models using SQL.
- Build scalable, highly performant ETL/ELT pipelines and infrastructure from multiple raw data sources.
- Collaborate with software engineers to deliver sound and scalable implementations.
- Serve as a technical data expert and introduce technologies that improve pipeline capabilities.
- Document data models, architectural decisions, and data dictionaries.
- Support data governance, code reviews, guidance, and access controls.
- Learn the application data schema and transform it to improve customers’ decision-making.
- Advise product and development teams on instrumentation and product usage reporting foundations.
- Build backend services and scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Python/FastAPI.
- Develop modern web applications and reusable UI components using ReactJS and TypeScript.
- Complete projects with minimal guidance while collaborating appropriately.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 7–11 years of experience building ETL or ELT pipelines from scratch.
- Strong command of relational databases, data modeling, and database design, with PostgreSQL preferred.
- Strong Python skills and experience building production web applications with Python.
- Experience with cloud-based services, with AWS RDS preferred.
- Experience developing on or administering BI and data visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Mode, Data Studio, Domo, or QlikView.
- Basic understanding of data warehouses such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
- Ability to translate data into clear, actionable narratives for stakeholders.
- Familiarity with data catalog or data governance platforms such as OpenMetadata.
- Experience building backend services with Python/FastAPI and designing scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Mandatory experience authoring modern web applications with ReactJS and TypeScript and designing reusable UI components and scalable frontend architecture.
- Familiarity with tool-calling agents, planning/execution loops, and RAG.
- Ability to use modern AI tools to improve development velocity and code quality.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment.
