Base Salary
$80k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own Platform Firmware Resiliency architecture and implementation across multiple product lines.
- Design and develop secure firmware modules protecting BIOS, FPGA, BMC, and other critical platform firmware.
- Integrate and validate hardware root-of-trust solutions, including Intel PFR, TPM, and cryptographic accelerators.
- Implement firmware recovery mechanisms that restore integrity after corruption or compromise.
- Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for firmware-level attacks.
- Develop test strategies for PFR capabilities, including attack simulation and penetration testing.
- Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-193 and relevant platform security guidelines.
- Collaborate with hardware, BIOS, security, and cloud teams to integrate PFR features.
- Mentor engineers in firmware security, secure coding, and resiliency design patterns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 20+ years of experience in embedded software development.
- Strong C/C++ development background.
- Strong understanding of Platform Firmware Resiliency concepts and NIST SP 800-193 requirements.
- Experience with secure boot, measured boot, and cryptographic firmware verification.
- Familiarity with UEFI/BIOS architecture, BMC firmware, and FPGA firmware update flows.
- Hands-on experience with hardware root-of-trust solutions such as Intel PFR and TPM 2.0.
- Strong debugging skills using JTAG, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Experience with Intel Server Platform Services or similar management engines is preferred.
- Familiarity with secure firmware update protocols, including capsule updates and signed images.
- Knowledge of supply chain security for firmware components.
