Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize Proton’s global network of thousands of servers.
  • Design and implement automation systems supporting 99.95%+ infrastructure uptime.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex issues across network environments and censorship scenarios.
  • Develop monitoring and alerting systems that provide real-time infrastructure visibility.
  • Engineer solutions that improve connectivity, stability, performance, scalability, security, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with the broader Infrastructure department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Linux internals, networking, and kernel tuning.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes orchestration and infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation tools and operational scripts.
  • Ability to design highly available, complex, distributed, and scalable systems.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Understanding of infrastructure security principles and best practices.
  • Adaptability, strong problem-solving ability, and a collaborative working style.
  • Bonus: experience with bare-metal provisioning, on-premise cloud solutions, or open-source contributions.
