Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize Proton’s global network of thousands of servers.
- Design and implement automation systems supporting 99.95%+ infrastructure uptime.
- Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex issues across network environments and censorship scenarios.
- Develop monitoring and alerting systems that provide real-time infrastructure visibility.
- Engineer solutions that improve connectivity, stability, performance, scalability, security, and resilience.
- Collaborate with the broader Infrastructure department.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Linux internals, networking, and kernel tuning.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes orchestration and infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Python for automation tools and operational scripts.
- Ability to design highly available, complex, distributed, and scalable systems.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Understanding of infrastructure security principles and best practices.
- Adaptability, strong problem-solving ability, and a collaborative working style.
- Bonus: experience with bare-metal provisioning, on-premise cloud solutions, or open-source contributions.
