Responsibilities
- Maintain the heavily used legacy PHP central metadata service.
- Modernize the metadata service by adopting new Node.js services and collaborating with the Web-API team.
- Create specialized Node.js services for Warhammer 40,000: Supremacy.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve high-quality software.
- Build and operate stable, performant, scalable, secure, and maintainable backend services and APIs.
- Work with game designers, product leads, and internal engineering teams to implement features and replace the legacy PHP service.
- Contribute maintainable TypeScript code using the stated web, testing, infrastructure, database, and messaging technologies.
Requirements
- 7+ years of proven Node.js/TypeScript development experience.
- Proficiency with Node.js/TypeScript frameworks and tools including Next.js, Nest.js, Express.js, and Jest.
- Strong coding and debugging skills and an engineering mindset.
- Experience developing and maintaining multi-server, high-load backend services and APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar.
- At least familiarity with PHP.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Experience integrating AI tools into development workflows for code generation, debugging, and technical research.
- Proactive interest in learning new technologies and working beyond one programming language.
- Experience with hyperscalers such as Google Cloud Platform, networking, and debugging distributed systems is a plus.
- Experience in an agile environment, preferably Scrum, is a plus.
- Enthusiasm for games, particularly strategy games, is preferred; passion for the Warhammer 40,000 universe or online and turn-based strategy games is a plus.
