Base Salary

$156k - $239k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define reference architectures and reference implementations for wireless connectivity, display/UI, and app/cloud integration across product categories.
  • Design connected subsystems involving Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi, Matter, Thread, Zigbee, embedded UI, provisioning, and pairing.
  • Make and document connectivity interface, app/cloud API, and wireless platform decisions.
  • Prototype and de-risk new connectivity, display, and app-integration technologies.
  • Lead internal and partner technical design reviews and resolve interoperability and integration failures.
  • Support Bluetooth SIG, Wi-Fi Alliance, and Matter certification submissions and resolve failed submissions.
  • Track wireless standards, define reproducible build requirements, and establish coding and quality standards.
  • Contribute to connectivity and display test automation, CI pipelines, RF and interoperability test infrastructure, and static analysis.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship across US and China teams and represent connected firmware positions in cross-functional and executive forums.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 12+ years of embedded software and firmware engineering experience with significant wireless connectivity and connected-device architecture depth.
  • Track record as a principal, staff, or lead architect on complex connected embedded systems.
  • Experience with wireless certification through Bluetooth SIG, Wi-Fi Alliance, and Matter.
  • Experience defining architecture for external development partners and enforcing technical standards on outsourced work.
  • Experience developing firmware for consumer electronics, home appliances, robotics, IoT devices, or related high-volume industries.
  • Deep embedded C and C++ experience on resource-constrained platforms.
  • Expertise in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, Matter, Thread, Zigbee, BLE GATT, Wi-Fi onboarding, cloud device registration and authentication, embedded graphics/UI, secure boot, key management, OTA updates, wireless certification, build systems, static analysis, unit testing, hardware-software integration, board bring-up, and low-level debugging.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without formal authority.
