Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design of highly scalable, interdependent distributed systems and data plane platforms.
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks for hyper-scale workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, and in-service upgrades.
- Define KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, availability, durability, and SLO-aligned operational standards.
- Apply formal verification techniques such as TLA+ and develop data replication and synchronization strategies.
- Advise on complex production troubleshooting, lead incident response and root-cause investigations, and establish operational readiness standards.
- Architect security controls, guide vulnerability remediation, and ensure cloud infrastructure compliance.
- Develop enterprise-level Infrastructure as Code and automation strategies for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Lead high-impact project planning, stakeholder alignment, continuous improvement, talent development, interviews, and hiring decisions.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of software development experience; alternatively, a qualifying bachelor's degree with 11 years, master's degree with 9 years, or doctorate with 7 years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated data management knowledge or ability, including designing, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring data pipelines.
- Demonstrated data integration knowledge or ability, including loading and managing data from varied sources.
- Five years of academic or professional experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google, or Oracle Cloud.
- Ten years of system-level testing and automation experience.
- Four years of experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in scalability, reliability, distributed systems, security, formal verification, data replication, incident management, and infrastructure automation.
- Ability to mentor teams, influence cross-functional leaders, lead complex problem-solving, and contribute thought leadership.
