Base Salary
$179k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Develop robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
- Use multiple programming languages, databases, container orchestration services, and AWS tools and services.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Identify improvement opportunities, refactor systems, reduce technical debt, and improve performance.
- Influence long-term technology strategy by evaluating emerging tools and practices.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to internal and external technology communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative field such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Preferred: 7+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.
- Preferred: experience with databases, AWS/GCP/Azure, open source frameworks, front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, Git-based version control, cloud troubleshooting, AI coding tools, observability, mentoring, and cross-functional technical initiatives.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: $179,400-$204,700 in the sales territory and $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, Virginia; the role may also earn performance-based incentive compensation.
