Base Salary
$125k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own backend features and services end to end, from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production operation.
- Build and maintain integrations with banks, card networks, and other third-party financial services.
- Write and review technical designs and participate in architecture discussions.
- Improve microservice performance and reliability by addressing bottlenecks and failure modes.
- Improve testing and observability across backend systems.
- Collaborate with product and compliance teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into software.
- Travel up to approximately 15% annually.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently deliver features from ambiguous requirements through production.
- Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals.
- Working experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices.
- Proficiency with Python 3, web frameworks, and APIs, particularly Flask.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with payment processing, fraud detection, compliance systems, AML, KYC, PCI DSS, financial APIs, ACH, card networks, third-party integrations, or high-volume transaction systems.
