Responsibilities
- Implement well-defined software features, user stories, and bug fixes under senior engineer guidance.
- Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic.
- Write documented code following County development, accessibility, and security standards.
- Perform unit and integration testing, code reviews, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, estimation, design reviews, pair programming, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Support version control, CI/CD build and deployment processes, technical documentation, and system flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with product, UX, QA, operations, infrastructure, data, help desk, support, and release teams.
- Communicate requirements, task status, estimates, technical challenges, blockers, and solutions to teammates and stakeholders.
- Assist with user demonstrations, product walkthroughs, end-user documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related job field.
- Three years of work-related software development experience.
- Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
- Knowledge of Git, software testing, APIs, databases, frontend or backend frameworks, SQL, RESTful APIs, microservices, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
- Ability to solve problems, learn new technologies, communicate effectively, collaborate, adapt, and deliver quality software.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to provide a 10-year driving history.
- Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for required national fingerprint-based records checks when accessing criminal justice databases.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, Certified Scrum Developer, or an equivalent Agile certification.
