Responsibilities
- Define the multi-year technical vision and North Star roadmap for the backend ecosystem.
- Lead high-stakes buy-versus-build evaluations through the Architecture Review Board.
- Directly address high-risk distributed-systems challenges and drive Zero-Trust and Always-On architecture initiatives.
- Mentor Staff Engineers and serve as a strategic advisor to VP- and CTO-level leadership.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience delivering massive-scale distributed systems.
- Expert-level understanding of distributed theory, including the CAP theorem and Paxos/Raft, and experience leading technical transformations.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
- Preferred: significant contributions to major open-source infrastructure or distributed-systems projects.
- Preferred: deep FinTech or Security expertise at global Big Tech scale.
- Preferred: experience migrating monolithic architectures to modular or cell-based paradigms.
