Base Salary

$140k - $160k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain state-of-the-art 2D and 3D Digital Image Correlation algorithms, including subset-based and global approaches.
  • Develop correlation metrics, interpolation schemes, and strain-calculation methods.
  • Validate algorithm accuracy and robustness using analytical methods, simulations, and experimental datasets.
  • Collaborate on optical-system design and selection, including lenses, cameras, illumination, and stereo configurations.
  • Contribute to camera calibration, stereo reconstruction, and geometric correction.
  • Optimize DIC software for real-time or near-real-time execution and low-latency processing.
  • Apply multithreading, SIMD/vectorization, GPU acceleration, and memory-efficient architectures to improve performance.
  • Profile and benchmark code, eliminate computational bottlenecks, and balance accuracy, robustness, and execution speed for production deployment.
  • Work with hardware teams to integrate imaging systems and DIC software.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Vision, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with 2D and 3D Digital Image Correlation, including practical deployment on real imaging systems.
  • Strong foundation in computer vision, numerical methods, optimization, and image processing.
  • Proven experience developing high-performance, production-quality software for computationally intensive applications.
  • Ability to prototype algorithms in MATLAB and deploy production implementations in C++.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize software for speed, memory efficiency, and robustness.
  • Preferred experience with real-time DIC measurement systems in aerospace, automotive, biomechanics, materials testing, or similar domains.
  • Preferred experience with GPU acceleration, heterogeneous computing architectures, uncertainty quantification, metrology standards, commercial or customer-deployed scientific software, or material testing systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, collaboration, problem-solving, ownership, and self-direction abilities.
