Base Salary
$175k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement an agent platform with orchestration, tool or function calling, evaluation harnesses, prompt and version management, tracing, observability, safety, and guardrails.
- Support RAG, structured extraction, and production inference workflows.
- Partner with application engineering teams to integrate AI into code review, test generation, incident support, and developer copilot workflows with measurable quality gates.
- Diagnose agent behavior from execution traces, including inputs, intermediate steps, and failure points, and verify AI-generated code and tests.
- Own applied AI projects from prototype through production, including data needs, system design, model or vendor selection, rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
- Deliver customer-facing AI outcomes with product, design, and data/ML stakeholders.
- Assess organization-wide AI adoption, identify bottlenecks and tooling gaps, and build or teach solutions that improve adoption.
- Establish engineering practices for reliability, evaluation, incident response, privacy, security, and AI development.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews and pairing while providing pragmatic technical leadership.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent, including shipping production systems.
- Direct experience on an Applied AI or product AI team building LLM- or ML-powered features, with agent and tooling experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated judgment in scoping agent tasks, deciding what to delegate, and verifying agent output before trusting it.
- Strong backend and system design skills involving APIs, distributed systems, queues or workflows, observability, and performance.
- Ability to work with product, design, data/ML, platform, and application engineering partners in ambiguous environments.
- Track record of mentoring peers and improving engineering quality, including critical review of AI-generated code.
- Experience building platform capabilities such as SDKs, internal frameworks, or developer tooling is preferred.
- Practical experience with embeddings, search or retrieval, evaluation methodologies, model monitoring, AI-powered agents or assistants, inference constraints, and model or vendor tradeoffs is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship or sponsorship transfer is unavailable.
