Responsibilities
- Develop and customize AI solutions from prototype through production ownership.
- Build generative-AI and large-language-model solutions using retrieval, tool calling, structured extraction, and agentic workflows.
- Identify and size automation and decision-support opportunities across customs and business processes.
- Define evaluations, regression criteria, pilot success criteria, and criteria for stopping pilots.
- Manage pilots and implementations and monitor performance, inference cost, latency, and business impact.
- Collaborate with operations, transformation, IT, Group functions, technology partners, Group Legal, and IT Security.
- Contribute to privacy, security, AI governance, and EU AI Act compliance documentation.
- Learn customs processes and deliver useful solutions that operations staff can trust and operate.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of AI engineering, software engineering, or intelligent automation experience, including production AI or LLM features relied on by real users.
- Strong Python and SQL skills with production code ownership.
- Demonstrable experience integrating large language models into production systems, including prompt and context design, retrieval-augmented generation, structured output, and graceful failure handling.
- Practical experience with at least one major cloud AI platform: Azure AI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex.
- Solid backend engineering fundamentals covering APIs, data pipelines, testing, and CI/CD.
- Strong communication skills for working with operations experts who are not AI specialists.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Preferred experience with evaluation engineering, eval harnesses, regression suites, LLM-as-judge methods, and human-in-the-loop review design.
- Preferred experience with context engineering, retrieval strategy, memory, tool descriptions, policy layers, agent orchestration frameworks or standards such as LangGraph, MCP, and Temporal, long-running or multi-step workflows, observability, and inference cost control.
