Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate scalable backend services, infrastructure, APIs, and integrations for Cloudflare’s internal support and admin platform.
- Partner with engineering teams to onboard support and admin applications onto the platform through well-governed and scalable integrations.
- Work with Support, Legal, Security, and other operational stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable platform capabilities.
- Own and improve the platform’s security, authorization, access control, governance, and compliance posture.
- Ramp into unfamiliar and legacy codebases and make improvements that reduce operational toil and improve reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotations, respond to production incidents, and lead post-incident reviews.
- Contribute to observability, developer experience, and engineering standards across dependent teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building and operating production backend services at enterprise or large-scale organizations.
- Strong proficiency in Go and/or TypeScript.
- Experience in platform engineering, internal tooling, or support and administration systems serving non-technical end users or customer-facing teams.
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization systems including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, OPA/Rego, and role-based or policy-based access control.
- Experience designing and operating scalable systems for diverse internal consumers with varying reliability and performance requirements.
- Ability to work across engineering, Security, Legal, and non-technical operational teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work effectively in unfamiliar and legacy codebases.
- Advanced hands-on production experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including cluster operations, resource management, networking, and debugging containerized workloads.
- Strong database experience including schema design, query optimization, and operating highly available production databases.
- Experience with internal support tooling, admin consoles, case management systems, operational dashboards, security governance, or compliance tooling is desirable.
- Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers, Access, Zero Trust, and Gateway is desirable.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Kibana, or Jaeger is desirable.
- Experience with Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, or Temporal workflows is desirable.
