Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-powered healthcare applications using LLMs, enterprise data, context layers, retrieval systems, and governance guardrails.
- Write SQL queries and work with structured data, large datasets, live APIs, and web sources while handling formats, rate limits, and failures.
- Design schemas and storage layers for data pipelines, including vector storage and semantic indexing patterns.
- Build and test embeddings, retrieval logic, prompts, and other AI components, iterating on context relevance and accuracy.
- Assess data quality, duplication, freshness, and embedding maintenance requirements.
- Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, research and development teams, product management, strategic analysts, business units, vendors, and academic partners.
- Communicate technology updates and requirements, contribute to senior-management presentations, support vendor evaluations, and coordinate assigned project tasks.
- Support academic corporate engagement initiatives and complete internship-program goals and special projects.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an advanced degree in healthcare, technology, or a related field such as Biomedical Informatics or Computer Science; preference is given to PhD candidates.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in artificial intelligence, healthcare technology, or informatics research.
- Foundational knowledge of generative AI model development, architectures, and vector databases.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning and deep learning models.
- Experience with LLM or RAG models and LLM fine-tuning is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, large datasets, and data pipelines for machine learning solutions.
- Experience with vector embeddings and databases is preferred.
- Familiarity with SQL, LLM APIs, an orchestration framework, Git, semantic layers or knowledge graphs, and context retrieval systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to provide a dedicated secure work area, high-speed internet connectivity, and an office setup.
Benefits
- 12-week internship starting immediately, requiring 40 hours per week.

- Base compensation of $32.00 to $40.00 per hour, with overtime eligibility for nonexempt employees working over 40 hours per week where applicable.
