Base Salary

$142k - $224k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Create, document, and champion a company-wide observability strategy covering metrics, traces, logs, profiles, and other telemetry.
  • Design a cohesive, full-stack, product-oriented observability architecture with strong self-service capabilities.
  • Rationalize and consolidate redundant observability tools into a standardized, cost-effective service.
  • Partner with SRE teams on SLOs, error budgets, reliability principles, and operational excellence.
  • Communicate observability strategies and technical decisions to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers and guide teams on OpenTelemetry instrumentation, monitoring, and AIOps-based incident analysis.
  • Research emerging observability technologies and practices, including eBPF and OpenTelemetry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in observability, software engineering, SRE, or platform engineering.
  • Proven experience architecting and implementing large-scale technical solutions.
  • Deep expertise in observability practices, telemetry collection, and tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, BigPanda, and xMatters.
  • Experience creating and executing technical strategy across multiple teams or an entire organization.
  • Deep practical knowledge of SRE principles, including defining, implementing, and managing SLOs and error budgets.
  • Strong practical experience with the OpenTelemetry standard for instrumentation and telemetry collection.
  • Experience designing solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts to executives and non-technical audiences and lead by influence.
  • Experience consolidating tooling and migrating teams to a centralized platform is preferred.
  • FinOps knowledge, eBPF familiarity, and an internal-platform product mindset are preferred.
