Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded C++ software for complex safety-critical systems.
- Apply structured and model-based design approaches to create scalable and maintainable software architectures.
- Collaborate with systems and hardware engineers to integrate software onto target platforms.
- Ensure compliance with safety and coding standards including DO-178C and MISRA C/C++.
- Support system integration, verification, and validation activities in laboratory environments.
- Contribute to delivery within an Agile development framework and support continuous improvement and quality.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing C++ software in embedded or safety-critical environments.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
- Experience in defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with safety-critical development standards such as DO-178C and MISRA C/C++.
- Experience working in Agile teams with Jira, Confluence, and Git-based version control.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or relevant technical military background with equivalent hands-on experience.
- Eligibility for or existing UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Exposure to model-based or UML-driven development, including IBM Rhapsody or similar tools, is desirable.
- Experience with requirements or configuration management tools such as DOORS or Dimension is desirable.
- Experience with software integration, verification, lab-based testing, real-time systems, embedded platforms, or complex system development is desirable.
