Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement TeraWave command and data handling flight software for command routing, onboard data management, telemetry generation, and subsystem control.
- Develop telecommand and telemetry processing for command validation, scheduling, execution, health and status collection, and downlink management.
- Develop spacecraft time management, including time correlation, GPS/GNSS synchronization, and precision timing distribution.
- Create and maintain interfaces between command and data handling software and other spacecraft subsystems.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers on requirements, interfaces, and subsystem behavioral boundaries.
- Develop simulation environments and models for nominal and off-nominal flight software scenarios.
- Support software architecture, design reviews, systems engineering trade studies, integration, verification, and validation.
- Support on-orbit spacecraft operations and troubleshooting.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of spacecraft flight software or embedded software development experience.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
- Understanding of object-oriented problem solving and software layering for modularity and reuse.
- Experience with RTOS platforms such as Linux, QNX, VxWorks, RTEMS, or equivalent.
- Experience with spacecraft avionics functions such as command and data handling, telecommand and telemetry processing, or hardware I/O management.
- Familiarity with CCSDS spacecraft telecommand and telemetry standards.
- Familiarity with space-system cybersecurity principles, including secure boot, command authentication, or encrypted communications.
- Experience with unit-testing frameworks such as Google Test or equivalent for embedded C/C++.
- Experience with IPC mechanisms, cross-compilation toolchains, embedded Linux build systems, software lifecycle practices, configuration management, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
- Experience with mission-critical embedded software verification and validation.
- Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, I2C, SPI, and RS-422/485 communication protocols.
- Familiarity with static analysis tools and MISRA C/C++ coding standards.
- Preferred: master’s degree, spacecraft operations or constellation management, OTA updates, precision timing, NASA cFS or F Prime, FDIR and autonomy interfaces, and radiation-effects mitigation.
