Responsibilities
- Own and drive hands-on design and development of complex, enterprise-scale Java applications.
- Lead technical direction for modules and subsystems while remaining actively involved in implementation.
- Modernize legacy or monolithic Java applications into modular, cloud-ready, and potentially microservices-based architectures.
- Design and maintain backend and full-stack features using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, databases, and frontend integrations.
- Design API, file-based, and message-based integrations and support analytical data processing workflows.
- Apply object-oriented design principles, design patterns, layered or hexagonal architecture, and technical trade-off analysis.
- Ensure performance, scalability, security, maintainability, code quality, test coverage, and production stability.
- Perform performance profiling, memory analysis, and JVM tuning to resolve bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, architecture, and global stakeholder teams through end-to-end product delivery.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to Agile/Scrum planning, reviews, retrospectives, deployment, and maintenance.
Requirements
- MCA or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java-based software development on global or enterprise projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful API design, Eclipse, Angular or React, MongoDB, and AKS.
- Experience with software design patterns, layered architectures, object-oriented design, clean coding, and performance optimization.
- Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
- Knowledge of performance profiling, memory analysis, Hibernate/JPA, transaction management, microservices, and service integration patterns.
- Experience or familiarity with Azure cloud-native development, Azure Service Bus or similar messaging systems, Azure DevOps, Docker, Maven or Gradle, and cloud platforms.
- Experience with product development environments and Product Development Lifecycle practices.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, Lean Agile, Scaled Agile, Kanban, and continuous improvement practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a strong learning mindset.
- Shipping/logistics workflows or scientific data processing, including genomics or laboratory systems, is a plus.
- Eclipse RCP, event-driven systems, and message-based systems experience are advantageous.
