Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and oversee software solutions for complex customer-facing Android, React Native, web, and backend projects.
- Develop Android framework architectures using background services, OS internals, Camera/Media APIs, and modern Google platform capabilities.
- Create software specifications, lead technology roadmaps, and define long-term strategies for mobile architecture, data capture, and edge-AI processing.
- Develop solutions incorporating GenAI SDKs, OCR, barcode decoding, computer vision, and on-device ML workflows.
- Lead software development lifecycle practices focused on modularity, maintainability, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Advise cross-functional teams, mentor senior engineers and management, and drive high-impact projects from prototype through production.
- Monitor competitors and industry trends, analyze competitor patents, and represent Zebra as a technical spokesperson for specialized projects and architectures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional experience, or 7+ years of experience with a master's degree.
- Experience with software architecture, system design, scalable software solutions, enterprise backend systems, and client applications.
- In-depth Android development knowledge including Kotlin or Java, background services, OS internals, and Camera/Media APIs.
- Experience with React Native and multi-platform or web frameworks.
- Foundational knowledge of computer vision, edge AI, and ML integration, including image preprocessing, OCR, barcode decoding, and TensorFlow Lite.
- Experience adopting GenAI or AI-assisted tools within the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence technical direction, mentor talent, communicate with senior leadership and enterprise customers, and drive complex projects.
- Strategic thinking, innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and familiarity with intellectual property protection, competitor analysis, and mobile AI industry trends.
