Base Salary
$200k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect robust systems across data, model, and product layers for Hazel’s AI engine.
- Build scalable data pipelines to store, synchronize, and extract information from structured and unstructured data.
- Optimize search and retrieval infrastructure for grounded, accurate, and low-latency responses.
- Collaborate with product managers and subject-matter experts to build steerable AI systems.
- Create and maintain evaluation datasets and scoring modules and integrate them into deployment pipelines.
- Identify, unblock, and mitigate risks affecting timely delivery.
- Serve as an engineering leader, steward engineering practices, and mentor other engineers.
- Engage with users to understand their industry needs, goals, and frustrations.
- Stay current with developments in machine learning and AI.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience, including experience building or contributing to production ML systems at scale.
- Experience with ranking or recommender systems, generative AI products, vector databases, search indices, or other search and retrieval data stores.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and sound software engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to decompose complex problems into simpler components.
- Familiarity with the statistical and mathematical foundations of machine learning and large language models is a bonus.
