Responsibilities
- Analyze System/36 applications, job streams, menus, and screen flows.
- Convert OCL programs and processes to IBM i Control Language (CL).
- Convert RPG II applications to RPG IV/ILE RPG while preserving functionality and integrity.
- Remediate, optimize, troubleshoot, and validate converted applications.
- Perform and document unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Modernize System/36 screens and menu structures.
- Document application functionality, conversion approaches, remediation work, and testing results.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and quality assurance resources.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge transfer, and technical best-practice activities.
Requirements
- 7+ years of IBM midrange development experience.
- 5+ years of System/36 development and support experience.
- Strong experience with IBM System/36 environments, OCL, and RPG II.
- Hands-on experience converting OCL to CL and RPG II to RPG IV/ILE RPG.
- Experience with IBM i application modernization, conversion remediation, code optimization, and conversion-related testing.
- Understanding of batch processing, job scheduling, and legacy application architectures.
- Experience with screen and menu conversion and modernization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and translate complex legacy business logic into modern IBM i solutions.
- Preferred: experience with automated code conversion tools, large-scale IBM i modernization, IBM i development tools, source control, and change management processes.
