Responsibilities
- Write, ship, maintain, and review production code as a hands-on engineer.
- Architect, design, and implement large-scale distributed data systems and batch and streaming pipelines.
- Contribute to technical decisions involving data platforms, cloud-native tools, performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
- Own data systems end to end from design through deployment, support, and ongoing improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, blockchain teams, and intelligence analysts to build customer-focused products.
- Mentor and coach less-experienced engineers, promote engineering best practices, and raise code quality.
- Help shape Elliptic’s technical roadmap for data engineering.
- Use AI and agentic systems effectively in engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Hands-on production-engineering experience with Scala, Java, or Python.
- Ability to design, build, and maintain distributed data systems in cloud-based environments.
- Hands-on experience with big-data frameworks such as Spark or Databricks.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with data modeling and workflow orchestration.
- Ability to balance scalability, performance, and maintainability through sound technical judgment.
- Preferred experience with functional Scala, Terraform or CloudFormation, stream-processing frameworks, event-driven architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Interest in AI-driven engineering tools, crypto, and blockchain technologies is advantageous.
