Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of multiple distributed services, balancing reliability, scalability, performance, and cost.
- Lead ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from design through launch and production operation.
- Set engineering standards for code quality, design reviews, operational excellence, testing, and secure-by-design practices.
- Build and operate Enterprise Data Platforms using distributed systems, data streaming, and data management practices.
- Build platforms for data instrumentation, data quality issue detection, data lineage, and visibility.
- Improve service reliability, performance, and operational posture, including on-call leadership and incident response.
- Mentor and grow engineers and set technical strategy across the team and Amazon Quick.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
- Preferred: 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
