Responsibilities
- Design, train, and evaluate deep learning models including GNNs, transformers, DRL, Learned Algorithm Unfolding, or hybrids for radar object detection and classification.
- Build models that estimate object attributes such as size, shape, motion state, track, and behavior with calibrated uncertainty.
- Represent radar data appropriately for each model, including point or track graphs.
- Develop the data engine covering synthetic data generation, simulation-based training, labeling strategy, augmentation, and class-imbalance handling.
- Detect out-of-distribution inputs and flag low-confidence model results for downstream systems.
- Collaborate with Advanced Systems, DSP, GNC, and flight software teams on data interfaces and deployment to embedded or edge hardware.
- Define metrics, test sets, and evidence required to qualify ML models for edge deployment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- About 3 years of ML engineering experience building and shipping deep learning models.
- Experience with PyTorch or a similar deep learning framework.
- Experience with edge deployment, including TensorRT, quantization, FPGA, or SoC targets.
- Strong Python skills.
- Working knowledge of radar fundamentals, including radar bands and usage, link budgets, clutter mitigation, RCS, detection probability, and tracking.
- Familiarity with GMTI or AMTI signal-processing concepts is preferred.
- Experience with radar, sonar, SAR, lidar, or RF sensor data is preferred.
- Experience training on synthetic or simulated data and closing the simulation-to-real-data gap is preferred.
- Experience with uncertainty quantification, calibration, or out-of-distribution detection is preferred.
- Experience with embedded C++ is preferred.
- Active TS/SCI clearance is preferred; the position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
