Responsibilities

  • Find and report software deficiencies and assist with manual software testing.
  • Track test results and quality metrics and become proficient with testing tools and methodologies.
  • Create automated regression test scripts and automated tests using approved third-party tools.
  • Develop, debug, and maintain software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and software development languages and tools.
  • Write unit tests for new and existing code and collaborate with development teams to solve problems.
  • Work with users and Daktronics personnel to answer questions and resolve problems.
  • Assist with software product requirements and design documentation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred enrollment is at least 12 credits and sophomore or junior standing.
  • Strong academic performance is required, with preference for a GPA of 3.0 or greater; unofficial or web transcripts must be submitted.
  • Object-oriented programming knowledge is required; knowledge of C++, C#, or Java is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET Framework, Visual Studio, Git, or other source-control software is preferred.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old, fluent in written and verbal English, and able to work scheduled hours reliably.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, critical-thinking, collaboration, and self-motivation skills are required.

Benefits

  • Approximately 15 hours per week during the academic year, up to 20 hours per week, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Primarily located in Brookings, South Dakota, with limited availability for work from a U.S.-based home office or the Rapid City, South Dakota campus.
