Responsibilities
- Investigate embedded product software issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and own problem resolution through completion.
- Develop, test, verify, integrate, and release software components that meet product requirements.
- Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and develop product architectures and design trade-offs.
- Use modeling, simulation, statistical methods, verification and validation, and failure mode avoidance techniques to improve performance, reliability, and quality.
- Support software development processes, tools, coding, compilation, testing, static analysis, and integration activities.
- Coordinate software integration across engineering, product, technical, and business teams.
- Manage product development activities, monitor risks and requirements, document technical decisions, and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate work with technicians and student employees and contribute technical expertise to team and project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or an appropriate STEM field, or equivalent bachelor's-level qualification, is required; a relevant master's degree may be required for select roles.
- Entry-level or early-career profile with 2–3 years of embedded software development experience, preferably in automotive, industrial, or embedded systems.
- Strong programming skills in C; C++ knowledge is advantageous.
- Experience developing software for microcontroller-based embedded systems, including platforms such as Infineon AURIX, NXP, Renesas, STMicroelectronics, or TI.
- Understanding of embedded microcontrollers, memory architecture, interrupts, timers, and peripheral interfaces.
- Experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or AUTOSAR OS.
- Understanding of embedded software architecture, software design, coding standards, MISRA C, and software development lifecycle processes.
- Experience with debugging tools such as Lauterbach Trace32, JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Knowledge of CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Basic understanding of AUTOSAR architecture, including BSW, MCAL, RTE, and software configuration.
- Familiarity with UDS (ISO 14229), OBD, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, version control, configuration management, unit testing, integration testing, and debugging techniques.
- Python scripting knowledge and MS Office proficiency are preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, problem-solving, communication, independent-work, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
