Responsibilities
- Architect and implement complex features and interaction flows in the React Native mobile application.
- Own technical design and implementation from product requirements through deployment and monitoring.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks, optimize rendering, reduce bundle size, and improve mobile responsiveness.
- Drive architectural decisions and communicate technical recommendations and tradeoffs.
- Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Improve component architecture, testing, accessibility, and mobile deployment practices.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineering teams to translate product goals into technical solutions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant production React Native development.
- Proven experience owning and delivering complex, multi-component mobile features.
- Experience across the mobile development lifecycle, including development, app store submission, and post-release monitoring.
- Experience building mobile applications backed by large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems serving millions of users.
- Expert-level TypeScript proficiency and deep React Native expertise, including performance optimization, native module integration, animations, and platform-specific development.
- Strong experience with Expo and its ecosystem, plus monorepo tooling such as Yarn workspaces.
- Experience with mobile testing strategies using Jest and Maestro.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD and Expo/EAS workflows, including build pipelines, OTA updates, and app store deployment.
- Understanding of mobile observability, including crash reporting, performance monitoring, and analytics integration.
- Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems, communicate technical decisions effectively, and collaborate across functions.
- Experience working in a fully remote engineering organization.
- Preferred experience using AI-assisted development tools and integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows.
