Responsibilities
- Design, estimate, and implement medium- and high-complexity software solutions.
- Analyze, refactor, redesign, and consolidate C applications during the AIX-to-Linux migration.
- Participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle.
- Clarify requirements, processes, architecture, and priorities with project stakeholders.
- Recommend engineering standards, tools, and practices and propose improvements or escalate risks.
- Review development team work, share project knowledge, and support resource allocation.
- Influence teams, customers, and suppliers while making decisions affecting project and team objectives.
- Design solutions autonomously and communicate them to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support potential future BAU, project, and client-integration work on the payments platform.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience with strong demonstrable expertise in plain C.
- Strong UNIX experience across AIX and RedHat Linux, including porting and refactoring applications between the platforms.
- Experience with Korn/ksh and Bash shell scripting for build, run, and deployment tasks.
- Strong command of Make/Makefiles, gcc, gdb, and core-dump analysis.
- Experience refactoring and consolidating applications, including redesign during migrations.
- Ability to work autonomously, take end-to-end ownership, and communicate technical solutions clearly.
- Preferred: SQL and relational database experience with DB2, Oracle, Pro*C, or ESQL/C.
- Preferred: Sockets, TCP/IP, and inter-process communication for integrations and messaging.
- Preferred: Knowledge of cross-platform issues including endianness, data-type sizes, and compiler differences between AIX/POWER and Linux/x86.
- Preferred: Payments or financial transaction processing knowledge, including ISO 8583, card switching, transaction switching, or PCI DSS.
- Preferred: Git/GitHub experience and familiarity with Harness or comparable tools such as Jenkins.
- Preferred: AWS, Linux administration, Docker/containerization, Terraform/IaC, and external client or third-party system integration experience.
